Remote App Reviews

I use Remote on most of my computers with iTunes installed on. Aside from an expected delay every once in a while, everything works in an instant. Even in the basement where my internet can be a little slow, I can control my Dell OptiPlex 755 connected to Ethernet with most things happening instantly. The only thing I would like to see is an implementation of Remote in Control Center so I dont have to wait for Remote to connect back to my computer, even though the wait is only like a second or two, and so I dont have leave the app Im currently on to change my music through Remote. Though that isnt enough to bring the review down to a four star.

Plays music through ATV2 but not ATV3 - the remote app may as well now be garbage. Hey Apple testers: Try playing music without turning on the display with the ATV3..!

Just installed it right now and its working pretty good.

For months now the time line feature crashes the app anytime you tap it. We can live without it but come on Apple! Lets get a fix going! Does anybody get the feeling this app is not really supported?

Close to being super useful, but no cigar. I would like the ability to control another iPhone instead of a computer library. Currently have an old iPhone playing tunes permanently and having control over it with my main iPhone would be great. This app looks like it will do the trick but then sadly is unable.

Im a DJ, musician and a record collector, so I have a pretty extensive ITunes library (currently over 18,000 songs) and I already had my IMac/ITunes set up as one of three sound systems I use thoughout my home. I cant believe I wasnt already aware of this app or that I hadnt already assumed there must be something like this before because being able to run the tunes through my IPhone is a FANTASTIC feature for me. Too bad that other reviewers say theyve had trouble, but its been glitch-free and working slick as grease for me from the get-go. This is the most practical and useful app Ive downloaded yet. Thanks!

Id be totally satisfied with this remote app if I didnt regularly lose connection with iTunes. I use this to control my music and volume from areas away from my computer. I dont know if this matters (it shouldnt) but I am using this with iTunes on a Windows 10 CPU. Not only do I commonly lose connection but its impossible to reconnect from the app. I must go to the computer, disable home sharing, reactivate home sharing and only then does the app once again recognize iTunes. Fix this issue and Ill happily give 5 stars.

Unreliable

When in Artists, Songs, or Playlist view if you tap on a song, it fails to play the desired song. It does work on Album view. It used to work just fine, not as of June 2017. Please make an update as I love and use this app a lot!

Used to be a rock solid way to control Apple TV, didnt even need to know where my remote was. Now, connects maybe 10% of the time, with multiple attempts from multiple devices. Worthless. Wouldve been nice to know they released another remote app.

Used to love this app until I started to use apple music. It has really bad integration with apple music. also, the keyboard does not pop up on my apple tv anymore..

I have 3 Apple TVs around the house and like to sync music to all from mac-mini.....phone can only send to one speaker. Need Apple Music searching on remote or multi speaker from phone. Cmon man! Tired of Sonos guys laughing at me.

This app has given me more frustration than any other apple product. It simply doesnt recognize the computer, more than sporadically at best even with home sharing enabled. Links to help are non-existent or broken. Fix this, Apple!

I dont understand why I cant get the full functionality of Apple Music on this. All I want to do is play music from Apple Music on my computer controlling it from my phone using the Apple Music interface already on my phone... how hard would that be? I can use airplay to control the Apple TV but not for my computer? Why? Apple is all about connectivity but if I cant just use the music app to control where the music is playing then they are way behind..

This app has changed the way I use iTunes all around my house. The versatility is amazing. And being able to choose what plays next is even cooler. Great app. 5+ stars.

I wrote this review over 4 years ago... "Unlike some of the reviews, I havent had a problem with this app. Ive had it for a while and it works perfectly fine for me. Its really handy if you misplace your Apple TV remote, or just laying in bed and want to hear music on your Mac." Today, I only had this app for the Apple TV remote, really. Now that this is no longer a feature, turning my 5 stars to 1 and getting rid of the app.

I use this app to control iTunes broadcasting to multiple airport expresses to get synchronized audio throughout the house. While iTunes itself can be buggy on a PC (Ive learned if you dont sign in it works better) the audio stream is always on point. As for the app, I have to continually turn wifi off and on or reboot for it to connect, even if using it all afternoon, but when it connects it works great. Better integration with "Internet Radio" would be helpful.

While using this app on my iPhone, Ive come to realize it has extended my range of access to iTunes (via Wi-Fi of course). However, when I open the Remote app, sometimes it fails to load and glitches between screens. This isnt a critical issue for me, but it is noticeable. Also, it would be cool if remote could show up in the Control Center on iPhones and other iDevices.
