Can be difficult to set up the first time, with no explanation for failures. Does not maintain connection while playing, so there is always a delay when opening the app to address a song. Does not appear on the lock screen or upper right hand corner of the remote device while playing music on the host.

Bulletproof and does exactly what you want - except for one thing. It doesn’t have a stop button. The whole point of a remote is to be able to control remotely. You can pause, but you can’t stop. If you’re using it as part of a home music system, particularly if as I do with a dedicated Mac Mini, it lessens its functionality. Five stars otherwise.

Does not work with Apple Music on Windows. Highly disappointed.

This is one of my favorite actual Apple apps. Rumor has it. It was written by some developers independently of the Apple TV development process. I don’t know if it is true, but it is a very Apple like story. There are so many features within this app that were neglected from the new Apple TV and to this day still not have been introduced to the new Apple TV or its companion app on iOS Devices. Apple really should include these features like quickly jumping into the library for the new Apple TV.

Gave 2 stars, because App is no longer visible to use after upgrading the iOS 18 version! This app was how I could control music remotely from computer! Now it’s no longer on the watch. Please bring back!

I like using it when I am lazy and don’t want to sign into my mac everytime and i can control my music from my phone

This app is excellent, and is robustly made, considering the last update was 5 years ago. Please consider adding a live activity to the app that would allow for a similar view as playing media. Even a shortcut cut for the notch bar previews when in use would be a great improvement. Please attempt to implement this in some form.

Needs support to control playback from music playing from iPad and/or iPhone. If playing from an iPad, you cannot connect the Remote (say from an iPhone) to control the playback from the iPad. Very frustrating. Otherwise works great!

This works really nicely. It’s great to listen to the music all over the house and outdoors via airplay or HEOS. Just sometimes it seems gets confused and either doesn’t respond at all and you have to go to the computer and use the keyboard to press play… after that it is back to working.

It’s wonderful having access to my full music library on my Mac anywhere in my house. It’s unfortunate that Apple has made Home Library in the Music app barely usable — but the Remote app fills in well by letting me airplay to any device in my home.

This is the worst experience I’ve had with an Apple app ever. This is an absolute joke. Whoever was working on this app needs to be put in front of a firing squad.

Musical control of multiple amps at my fingertips… Kinda makes the digital sound more palatable 🎶 I’m an AnalogMan…

This used to work as an Apple Watch App. Not sure why Apple took it away. Please bring the remote app back to the Watch version a long with the iPhone version.

would love if you could add tracks to a playlist, and delete tracks from the library if you’re the owner

Don’t muck it up by making it AirPlay 2 lossy but, give its organizing ability a bit more update to be like Music app. Dark mode, etc. Just friggin update the UX and UI!

Nice app but it fails to connect unless I either have the app open when opening iTunes or turn off/on home sharing. It should be smart enough to connect as long as iTunes is open.

Was a great app but hasn’t been updated to work with the current OS.

Apple, please keep updating this. This is a simple but extremely useful app! It just works.

Would be even better if it was also available as a widget…

A Lock Screen widget would be so convenient. It would also be nice if the connection to my desktop didn’t commonly dropout at random.

But, I can’t seem to get this app to detect any of my iTunes libraries, which I still have running on my systems and on my Apple TV. It is just not finding anything and I am logged in with the same Apple ID on every machine. I have no idea where to go to ask for help.

This app was great til the apple watch version got removed in favor of just appleTV control and removed all ability to control any iTunes or apple music instance on a mac or pc. Big miss on apple for removing this function…

Best app ever it wasn’t working for a while I missed it

It works fine to control even iTunes on old Macs. Just don’t expect it to work properly on old models of Apple TVs.

long time apple user and early adopter of apple music. cmon guys u can do way better… no new changes in 3 years …get on Audirvana / Tidal’s level plz

This app lets control you Mac’s music on from your iPhone. So if you’re into listening high-res lossless music, which Macs do exceptionally well now, you don’t have to get up from your listening chair… you can really achieve audiophile results with a good stereo and you Mac.

I’m in a 100% Apple environment and get annoyed when their products don’t work together. Using it as a remote for Apple’s music app only enables about half the functionality. You cannot use any of the Music library, only your own library.

Had been using this from my iPhone and Apple Watch for years but after updating to watch OS 11.1 the app is gone 😓🤦🏻‍♂️

I think that this is really nice to control music on my Mac and it works so well at doing it too with low latency and all that! It could use the benefit from a refresh or having this built into the Apple Music on iPhone too. The menus feel clunky and feels old. Making it look more like the music app or integrating it in there altogether would be a great addition. Having this feature is really nice though and would be better if it got an update. Apple, please give this hidden gem of an app a little love.

Occasionally can no longer find library, or says nothing is playing when it is. Sometimes reinstalling the app helps, sometimes not.

I wanted to control my music on my mac which is connected to my sound system and I remembered that this app existed! And it still works a charm on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, IOS 18.1 and Sequoia 15.1! This is incredible. If any apple employee reads this, keep the app alive! Love the long term support you give to your products!

Maybe sooner… All I know is that I’ve been using Remote for the last 14 years and have never had an issue. It lets me remotely control my iTunes/Apple Music on any of my PC/Macs and has never failed to meet my expectations. I suggest every apple user make it a staple in their App Library.

Fix this. Can’t control the Apple Music program on Windows 11. Using an iphone 15

App works fine, but it looks way outdated and there’s definitely some things I think are inconvenient about the app. The biggest one that seems like a no brainer to me is that you can’t search up songs that are outside of your library. Just that alone, for me would bring this to a 4/5. PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE!!!!

The remote app is very reliable but its due for an updated to match modern iOS

The last time this app was updated was 4 years ago. Not sure why this hasn’t been updated or integrated directly into the apple music app. Would be very useful.

Only recently discovered the airplay2 capabilities of the Airport Express, so I now have house configured with multiple room audio via WiFi. The app works beautifully in allowing me to control the streams, monitor what is playing, control individual volume settings and even explore my entire iTunes library easily. For my use case, this really couldn’t be any better and iTunes is still a great option for housing a large music library. This app just pulls it all together nicely and ensures my focus is on enjoying the music.

Would love update to include Apple Watch.

This is one of the most useful apps I have. But it’s somehow become hidden from my phone, no way of restoring it. Only way I can access this app is by searching for it in the App Store EVERY time I want to use it

Love this app to control Apple Music wirelessly that’s playing lossless music on my laptop, BUT it’s so limited in what it can do. I wish the Apple Music app could directly control the music playing on the laptop that is connected to the hi-def dac usb player and AV receiver.
